Review from Amazon.com
...More than a book about gay politics or Republican politics, Party Crasher
is a reminder that a few committed people, basing their actions in integrity,
can still make a difference in the jaded world that American politics has become.
Certainly that is a message that Americans need to hear.

Reviews and Notes:
I really admire what you say in your book Party Crasher. Even though I myself am not a Republican the stuff you talk about resonates a lot with me. I think some of your ideas are what the gay community needs to adhere to.
For example do not worry about being accepted just stand up for your beliefs and you will be respected. Another point that you articulated is that besides coming out of the closet about your sexuality you must come out of the closet about your politics or religion as well. I agree with you that it is hard to be a gay republican or gay Christian in the gay community.
Why should you have to deny your political beliefs because of some people in the gay community who think we are all Democrats or antichristian? Even though I am a moderate Democrat I find that I have to defy some of the gay community on several fronts. First I consider myself a gay Christian Episcopalian. It is hard to be Christian in the gay community. I will not give my sincerely held Christian beliefs to the radical right or the gay left either. I have dated guys who say if you want to be with me you cannot be bisexual!! It is about as hurtful telling someone who is gay to become heterosexual. I guess us bisexuals are like you gay Republicans not wanted in either camp.
Finally I agree with your approach to working in the mainstream. Most people including you and me do not care for the gay subculture or some of the values they espouse. Some of the antichristian values and antiamerican values turn us off. Sometimes I just wish that we lived in a world that would treat straight-bi-gay like you treat right-ambi-left handed morally neutral and not that big of a deal. If that could happen there would be no gay bars, gay subculture, or gay churches needed. gay kids could be just as happy with their sexuality as straight kids. Some gays would be conservative some liberal etc. Sometimes I just give up any hope of us ever living in a world like that but, I think of people like you and me trying to make that world come to pass and I can hope again.
In closing I want to leave you with a great quote that gives me hope that this could happen. "I look at the world as it could be and people say why and I say why not?
